You might have noticed that some of our employees, and our Honor Guard, wear ribbons on their uniform. Here are all the ribbons HEMS employees can obtain. This will also give an idea of the employee's accomplishments.
Ronnie Dyer Memorial Distinguished Service Award
For actions of Valor and extreme meritorious service. This comes with full size Ribbon and Medallion. Selection for this award is exclusively up to the director's discretion as this is the top award issued by HEMS.
Meritorious Service Award
For actions such as above to a lesser degree. This also includes service oriented actions to better HEMS and/or the public. The award and criteria will be up to management's discretion. Employee of the Year nominees who do not receive the employee of the year award will receive this award.
Cardiac Arrest Save
For a successful cardiac arrest save by American Heart Association standards, pt recovers and returns to an active and normal lifestyle as was before the arrest.
Employee of the Decade
Selected by management. Criteria and eligibility up to the director's discretion. Candidates must be employed by HEMS for a minimum of 10 years.
Manager of the Year
Recipient chosen by HEMS staff collective vote. All members of our management team are eligible.
Employee of the Year
Selected by management. Criteria and eligibility up to management's discretion.
Rookie of the Year
For new associates that were hired during the fiscal year between Oct.1 and Sept. 31 preceding the current awards banquet. Criteria for management's discretion and voted on the same as the employee of the year recipient.
Medical Call of the Year
Medical calls throughout the year reviewed by QA committee and placed in file for nomination and vote by management team.
Trauma Call of the Year
Trauma calls throughout the year reviewed by QA committee and placed in file for nomination and vote by management team.
Pediatric Call of the Year
Any call that is nominated for trauma call, or medical call of the year but that involves a pediatric patient. Vote by management team.
Stroke Service Award
Stroke calls throughout the year reviewed by QA committee and placed in file for nomination and vote by management team. All calls were EMS initiated and received stroke alert to HMC. The pt must receive stroke protocol treatment, be diagnosed with CVA and recover. Pre hospital treatment must adhere to HEMS protocols to receive this award.
Pre Hospital OB Delivery Award
For a baby delivery in the field, when the umbilical cord is cut by EMS personnel.
Professional Development Award
For academic or professional accomplishment available to all levels of employment and/or for broadening the scope of service provided by HEMS.
Quality Assurance Citation
HEMS personnel who become members of the QA committee. Associates will be selected by management. The purpose is to ensure that patient care is done within written protocols without deviation. This group will also assist management and the Honor Guard in preparation for the annual awards day banquet.
Honor Guard Citation
HEMS personnel who become members of the Honor Guard. Members must maintain high uniform standards at all times and be selected by the Honor Guard members for candidacy and be approved by the management team. All members must meet the entry criteria policy for the Honor Guard.
Bike Team Citation
HEMS personnel who become members of the Bike Team. Personnel eligible must meet criteria for bike team and pass physical training.
For all HEMS associates, management and staff alike. This award is given to all employees based on years of service. The are available in 5, 10, 15 and 20 year increments. This award is only for time employed at HEMS.
